In this talk I will give a short overview of my recent research activities as post-doc working for the Alistore battery research network while being based at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). In my talk three principal topics will be presented. Firstly, the use of chemometric tools for analyzing large spectroscopic data sets in an unbiased and convenient manner. Secondly, the use of small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) for quantifying morphological changes in electrode materials and its coupling with X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy. Thirdly, the application of X-ray Raman Scattering (XRS) spectroscopy for measuring soft absorption edges (<2keV), such as oxygen K-edge and transition metal L-edges, in bulk materials. After a brief introduction and presentation of case study on each topic there will be room for discussion.
