SGX is the X-ray characterization platform of our insitute. The instrumental park includes powder diffractometers, single crystals, medium / high resolution thin films and a small angle scattering camera.
The objective of the L_Sim team of theory and modeling is to simulate and predict the structure and the properties of nanomaterials. The properties of such materials are governed by their atomic structure. This is the natural scale of the methods developed in the lab combining physics and algorithmics.
The LEMMA is mainly involved in the characterization of materials and nanostructures at a sub-nanometer scale. For many years it has been involved in developing and using High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) for applications in the study of interfaces at the atomic scale.
The MDN laboratory was created by L. Néel and E.F. Bertaut in the early sixties in order to study condensed matter physics by means of neutron scattering techniques. Since 1995, its activity is based on the operation of three CRG intruments (IN12, IN22 and D23) installed at Institut Laue Langevin.
The scientific activity of NRS is mainly directed on the one hand towards the study in situ, under ultra vacuum, in real time, of the growth, ripening and the car organization of nanostructures and on the other hand towards the structural study ex situ of nanostructures.
The strategy developed within the team aims at combining targeted methodological developments with theoretical advances and instrumentational breakthroughs to permit the atomic-level characterization of systems of interest for both health and energy.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
