About us
The strategy developed within the laboratory aims at combining targeted
methodological developments with
theoretical advances and
instrumentational breakthroughs to permit the atomic-level characterization of systems of interest for both health and energy. Solution- and solid-state NMR spectrometers for routine and advanced analyses are available and a recent major event was the acquisition of new equipment; spectrometers dedicated to both liquid-state NMR and, notably, dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) combined to solid-state NMR were installed, the latter at the PFNC, leading the laboratory to be currently localized on two sites. Among the ambitions of the laboratory, one is devoted to maintain an NMR facility, open to academic and industrial partners, which currently comprises 7 spectrometers covering classical liquid- and solid-state NMR, DNP-NMR, PFG-NMR, and relaxometry. Another involves continuing and instigating state-of-the-art research through strong collaborations and interactions with chemists and experts in quantum chemical calculations and EPR spectroscopy. Fundamental and application research remain the two scientific pillars of the laboratory.

The team are extremely active in not only collaborating externally but also in participating in the general scientific community through organising conferences, such as the local "Journée Rhône-Alpes de RMN" and the international Alpine conference on solid-state NMR held in Chamonix biennially, as well as participating in winter/summer schools, such as GERM and Surf’Ing’Chem’, and European scientific cooperations, such as the EU COST action TD1103 European Network for Hyperpolarization Physics and Methodology in NMR and MRI.
